In his mundane life, he has been a computer programmer, the executive director of an AIDS/HIV service organization, a bookstore owner, and many other things.
Workshop: The Heights & Depths of the Four Elements
The Four Elements are the pillars that uphold the manifest world and anchor spirit to matter. The Elements provide a system of understanding that undergirds most of the magick of the West and Paganism. They are associated with a wide range of spiritual entities from small elementals to Divine beings. They are often used in creating sacred space or doing spell work. The Elements are also a guide to personal development. Unfortunately, though a great deal has been written about the Four Elements, much of it is a rehash of the same concepts. Most of the available material on the Elements is aimed at beginners in occult practices, with very little at the intermediate level. This workshop is a new and deeper look at an old story, and offers a way to move beyond the basics.

Bio + Workshop
David Shi is a spiritual worker and folk magic practitioner who primarily engages in traditional North Asian forms of shamanism. He is primarily of Manchurian descent, but can also trace ancestry to Mongolian, Chinese, Korean, as well as a little Tungus Siberian and ancient Central Asian Turkic heritage as well. Raised in a household that incorporated both Southeast Siberian and North Chinese practices, David has dedicated his spare time to the study of the spiritual traditions of his ancestors and of greater Eurasia. Recognized as a sagaasha/ongodtengertei, a future shaman prior to initiation, among both Mongolian and Korean shamans, David’s practices are deeply rooted in spirit work in which ancestral and land spirits are called to empower all workings. David’s readings incorporate a combination of Tarot, Runes, Bones, Jaw-harp, as well as Mongolian stone divination (known as Kumalak in Turkic Central Asia).
Workshop: Land Spirits: Who are they, and what role they can play in your spiritual/magical practice?
As long as we are physical beings living on Earth, we are surrounded by land spirits. Almost all indigenous cultures acknowledge the existence of land spirits and have different levels of working with them. When offended they can become the source of great wrath and tragedy, but when honored they can bring about great blessings and fortune. For those that work with gods and otherworldly spirits, cultivating a strong relationship with land spirits can greatly enhance those practices. This class will help you understand who the land spirits are, and how you can work with them in your own practice. David will be teaching about land spirits from the North Asian shamanic context, but hopes you will find these teachings to allow for a deeper understanding that will enhance your practice.
